to spend an enjoyable and memorable week.
The natural scenery is there for everyone to enjoy. The coast is a mixture of spectacular sea lochs, fine sandy bays, high cliffs, rocky outcrops and small but interesting settlements. Inland the countryside is equally varied. Mountain streams pass through the high moorland, over picturesque waterfalls on their way to the more fertile strips of land adjacent to the sea. As the light constantly changes so do the panoramas, making the whole area a place for photography of the highest quality.
The many walks range from the easiest of strolls over fine sandy beaches, over rocky cliffs or along riverside paths to the much more challenging ascent of some of the higher peaks.
There are gardens, small museums and historical remains to visit.
In the local communities there is a wide and varied organised programme of events including Ceilidhs, concerts and talks on matters of local interest.
Details of all of these can be found in the Gairloch Times, the local newspaper published fortnightly by a group of local volunteers.
